From time to time I define pleasure as being a pain free moment .

Today pleasure is:

walking without feeling like crying for every step I make.
dancing without fearing pain.
sleeping like a baby without being terribly uncomfortable.

So it seems I that take pleasure from the small things that become a privilege in front of the idea of pain. I don't know if i'm living in pleasure with the fear of pain or in pain with the joy of pleasure. I just know that today i'm experiencing a level that does make me cry when i walk, that does transform the idea of dancing in an insanity and does keep me away from sleeping, even when my body needs it after a few white nights.

I bought a flower pot for my mom today on my way back from university and I gave her the flowers with snow on the petals. I've never expected to experience any more snow this year, especially after moving to Barcelona. But surprisingly i am. It started this morning and it still goes on. And it's March. And yes, it's strange.

I have no idea where should i position myself in space anymore.

Tuesday at noon i was in Bucharest, enjoying a beautiful day in the park with a special friend (while eating croissants with green walnuts yogurt - the olfactory memory will stay with me for a very long time). Then, without even realising, I've spent my evening in Rochester and had the feeling that between morning and evening weeks have passed.

Now, a few days after, i have the same feeling of displacement that makes me lose my time notion, together with the spatial one. In the morning I've enjoyed my coffee and apple crumble in Rochester, but now i find myself writing this from Barcelona.

It's not that i don't like going around and traveling, not even close to that, but every time i get back to one place or another i have the feeling that i never left. And this makes everything confusing. I suppose that a few more of these trips will change my perception and everything will seem normal but till then i can't do anything but contemplate the nature of modernity. Or better said altermodern ity . It all happens just as Bourriaud explains, and i am living it. If i say it a few more times i'll almost get used to it. Haha. Although now I have other things to get used to : a new school and a new language. And this is a whole new set of experiences on its own.

We don't walk with mandarins on our heads. We probably would, but they don't grow in english trees. However, we do have style, just look at us!
One in Kracow, one in Barcelona for the next semester and plans for meeting half way - erasmus life should be interesting. I'm not off yet from greyish England, but Kam is tomorrow, so this whole thing is getting real. Safe trip my dear and bring back great stories!

i miss spring. i also miss summer.
London is incredibly grey and so is Rochester. it takes skill to imagine a blue sky here. we're not even talking about people with mandarins on their heads. that's by far out of discussion. but i'm still here. just for a little while. and then comes spring.

the end of the first chapter

Time does pass faster when you enjoy it. I already knew this but finishing the first year of my BA today and not even realising when it went so fast made it so clear.

Ending this chapter and turning a new page for the summer that's just starting...

I'm most definetley looking forward 3 weeks in Barcelona and after that home sweet home. Big project ahead, but i'll talk about it later. Now i just want to post the result of the setbuild project. I'm too lasy to write it's description. It's all on the project's page.

Although i looked at it so many times and so close that i didn't even like it at one point, i think it turned out pretty great..ok, ok..it's fabulous :)) (I didn't say that! it was our feedback :D ). Anyway, I must say that I had a great team and i really enjoyed doing it. Thank you guys :)

I'll probably continue talk about nothing so i'd better stop now and save my words for something worth being shared. But there's more to come, that's for sure.

One of the current project for uni is setbuild and i'm in team 05 with a bunch of really nice guys.
Check it out from time to time. You'll see some interesting and sometimes not so interesting stuff, but at least we'll try to have the best time and make this work :)

White chaos

Wishes do come true, sooner or later. So, my December came a little late, in February, but no worries for that, I accept it as it is.

What was predicted to be a nice Monday morning for me (is not often that I wake up without being grumpy), became hilarious by the time I hot into the kitchen for my earl grey. With a smile on the face, everyone told me “hey, it’s snow day, no uni, everything is closed”. My obvious question was “WHY?” I know it’s not a common thing here to have snow for more than a few hours, but still, close down everything?! And when I say everything, I mean e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. Schools, buses, trains, 3 tube lines, most of the airports and roads are down. You can’t get in or out of London or its surroundings.

That’s why this becomes hilarious when I remember how it was home. Winter mornings : being in snow till knees, trying to follow a pathway made by the brave ones early in the morning, getting into the station, waiting patiently (not really) for the bus that was already full when it got there, and hope that I’ll be at school by 8 a.m. That was a chaotic situation, not a thin blanket of snow.

Until further notice concerning this chaotic situation, I’m going out to enjoy my late present from Santa.

I said that I'll update this blog but i didn't find the time for doing it. This rainy day made me take my computer, a cup of tea and the heater in a corner where i can read, write and listen to cheesy Christmas music.

I miss the feeling of real December from home, and the lack of snow makes it stronger. And since i'm not gonna get that soon, i should prepare for the next week's warm weather in Barcelona. So, here are some photos from Barcelona that i forgot about.

This is the final image for the "Species of spaces" project. Although i wanted to scan it and make a digital print i couldn't do it. What's the point of shooting with a large format camera and not print it in the darkroom? That's right-there's no point at all.

Random: how cool is to use your wedding money to buy a 5x4 camera? (from the lecture with Margaret Salmon). For me, it seems pretty cool.

it seems that the economical crisis touches in the end everyone. i was using uber.com as my previous hosting gallery, but after being shut down i couldn't be bothered to make my own website. as for the blogging part, yahoo 360 has some limitations.
therefore, this place should be my new "kitchen" area for images, thoughts and who knows what other things.
have a nice viewing and reading.
